Checking out pictures of indoor water parks can help travelers discover just what one of these innovative resorts has to offer for their next theme park getaway. While each water park has different features and themes, they all offer one thing: a great, splashtastic time that every guest can enjoy.
Indoor water parks have bright, colorful water slides and different themes. Tropical themes with teal, blue, and pink slides are especially popular with indoor water parks in northern locations, and there is nothing like enjoying warm water and tropical fun while it snows outside.
Water roller coasters, such as this slide at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells, actually propel riders uphill with powerful jets of water. Minimum height requirements and other safety restrictions frequently apply to these slides.
The largest indoor water parks feature fun wave pools that offer splashtastic fun at regular intervals. Some wave pools have zero depth entry areas so even the youngest visitors can enjoy the waves, but guests need to be aware that young swimmers may be required to wear life vests.
The water fort at Great Wolf Lodges is called Bear Track Landing in keeping with the resorts’ north woods theme. The forts feature tipping buckets, sprinklers, fountains, waterfalls, geysers, and dozens of other interactive features that are fun for all ages.
The Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells has a Mayan temple theme set in a tropical rainforest. Guests can enjoy slides, whirlpools, interactive water features, a lazy river, and many other fun attractions.
Unwary guests are in for a wet surprise if they stand beneath a tipping bucket as it fills. Most tipping buckets can fill up in just a few minutes, ensuring that there is always a way for guests to get wet.
One Schlitterbahn park in Texas features a “Wasserfest” section with a convertible roof, allowing the park to become an indoor attraction in poor weather, but during fair weather it remains an outdoor water park.
Many indoor water parks, such as the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio, not only have extensive indoor attractions but they also feature outdoor water areas that are open seasonally. Depending on the park, the outdoor section may be even larger than the indoor water park, or it may just be a pool, simple play area, and plenty of space for private cabanas and sunbathing.
While younger guests may prefer the water slides and other thrilling attractions, adults are more likely to relax in the oversized whirlpools at indoor water parks. Some parks feature family whirlpools as well as adults-only whirlpools in grotto-like settings.
